We aim to preserve a tradition of using mule-drawn carriages to see New Orleans. With over 200 years of combined experience, our licensed drivers are the most experienced muleteers in the city...and if you're looking for character, they have that too. New Orleans is known as the Big Easy for a reason--we don't rush, we don't worry. Neither should you. We know you are here to relax and have fun, and we pride ourselves on being available to you without getting bogged down in reservations, bookings, and apps.
Are you interested in an affordable carriage tour?
Just come on down to Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter and look for the green carriages--we're impossible to miss.
No reservations needed.
But if it makes you feel better, we are happy to arrange it.
Check out some of the tours we offer below. Do not forget to tip your guide!
VIEUX CARRE TOURS
FRENCH QUARTER - $25 per person, 30 minutes
This is Mid-City Carriages most popular tour and a great introduction to New Orleans. Explore the French Quarter's commercial and residential corridors while learning all about the city--its history, where to eat, what to drink, and where to go.
ST. LOUIS #1 CEMETERY and FRENCH QUARTER- $50 per person, 1 hour
In addition to the French Quarter tour, you can see the city's oldest graveyard, the St. Louis #1 Cemetery. Opened in 1789, this cemetery has a storied history, and is known for its above-ground tombs. See the tomb of Marie Laveau, the famous voodoo queen, and learn about Peter Fonda's infamous trip to the cemetery while you are introduced to other New Orleans locals and legends.
Note: The last St. Louis #1 Cemetery tour leaves Jackson Square at 3:00pm.
CREOLE NEIGHBORHOOD TOURS
Marigny - $50 per person, 1 hour- minimum 5 people, max 8
The Marigny is considered the second oldest Creole neighborhood in New Orleans, just after the French Quarter. View quaint historic homes around Frenchmen Street, a corridor known for its art markets, restaurants, and music clubs playing live jazz, funk, swing and blues.
Treme - $50 per person, 1 hour- minimum 5 people, max 8
We are the only carriage company in New Orleans situated in the heart of the Treme, the city's oldest African American neighborhood. The Treme dates back to the early 19th century, when enslaved people purchased their freedom and began building a vibrant community just behind the Vieux Carre. Learn about the neighborhood's Afro-Caribbean roots, Congo Square, voodoo, jazz, secondline parades and much, much more.
"Bring Out Your Dead" - $50, 1 hour- minimum 5 people, max 8
What do an ax-wielding jazz aficionado, a serial-killer socialite, and a swashbuckling pirate have in common? They are part of New Orleans ghastly repertoire of haunts, legends and crime. Learn about these legends that have captivated locals and visitors alike for centuries, and the true stories behind the tales of woe.
Garden District - $75 per person, 1.5 hours- minimum 5 people, max 8
Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown for a bit? A Garden District tour is the perfect way to relax. Experience the architectural grandeur of the Garden District in the old American city. This tour features staple New Orleans restaurants, celebrity homes, and an optional self-guided tour of the Lafayette Cemetery #1 (when available).
